Green Sector

The following page is a secret brief that is only available to those familiar with Green Sector. It represents a significant investment of IC time and effort, so please do not directly copy and paste the contents to other players.

With that proviso you may feel free to communicate the information IC using your own words. Of course, your neighbours may not like their private affairs gossiped all over the ship, and if you are caught doing so you may face IC consequences.

Rival for the Leadership [Updated turn 5]

Update: Congratulations to new sector head, Chad Green! We wish him all the best in his new role.

Goodwin has let it be known that he is intends to retire soon, though he doesn't want it to be public knowledge around the ship just yet. Jenny Green of Recycling has started spending a lot more time around the sector, helping out — is she competing with Jean-Phillipe for the upcoming vacancy? Of course, at times like this there are rarely as few as two people interested in the role, and it remains to be seen who might be living in Goodwin's quarters next month.

Goodwin Green, the sector's much-beloved father figure, is rumoured to be considering stepping down. Jean-Phillipe Bouillon is most likely to replace him, but nobody is sure whether he has been applying pressure to encourage Goodwin to feel he might be 'past it'.

Of course, should Goodwin feel he needs to step down, we wish him the best of luck with his future work and welcome whoever Computer decides is best suited to replace him.

Food Shortage Resolved But Leaves Simmering Anger [Updated turn 4]

Piers Red, and some of his Toroid 2 bully boys from Blue Sector came and smashed up our Wheat operation in the name of “preserving the nutrients”. Our engineers reckon we only needed some tweaking, but they came here to recycle the entire lot, even the stuff we could have eaten which would have gotten it recycled just as good. It seems that in punishment for taking the last of the bread anybody who does so loses two months fabber privileges.

“Those Red sector guys and their pals from Blue sector have just taken the solution to the nutrient problem that screwed us the most. I say we get our own back!”
— Underemployed Green Sector Agriculturalist

The food shortage is over, however you've only got Algae to eat, no more nice bread or other flour based products. The labourers who used to tend the wheat crop are laying about with little to do but cause trouble and nurse their resentment. You think it may be a good thing that the inter-toroidal transport is down, otherwise they might be trying to pay the Reds a visit.

October Update: Godwin Green has been doing his best to keep a lid on this trouble, but things seem to be getting worse.

Wheat crop failing [Updated Turn 1]

With the best agriculturalists on the ship, it's natural that Green Sector would put them to use for a little bit of luxury for everyone. To that end Green have long run an illicit wheat crop, grown from seeds removed early and in secret from the seed bank alongside the other crops in the regular cycle. The benefits of the wheat are clear—every resident is given a fresh bread ration, practically ambrosia compared to the usual algae-derived slop.

Unfortunately the wheat has begun to die off. This month's crop seemed to be showing signs of some strange blight, black rot killing the young plants just as they ripened. The worst part is that the algae crop, which had a substantial chunk of allotted nutrients siphoned off to grow the wheat, is also starting to fail. No-one is yet certain what the problem is (and asking Computer about the issue is problematic in its own way). This could have major repercussions when it comes to feeding Green in the not-so-distant future if one or the other were to fail.

Thanks to the actions of some members of the ACTP who shall remain nameless, the crop has been saved for now. However, it looks like we need to acquire some medical supplies on the QT. If you think you can help, please make yourself known.

NGF Nobbling [Updated Turn 1]

It's come to light that the reason Antipodes Green missed the final was not due to an injury sustained in training, but a small explosion in his quarters. Explosions are very rare and therefore foul play is assumed, almost certainly by someone from Red Sector. Be on the lookout for suspicious activity, even in this pre-season break.

In related NGF news, Green team are instructed to make up for the poor showing in last year's final and the loss of luxury rations as a result. Team members are notified that continued mistakes and poor performance will not be tolerated.

In June Chad Green was severely injured. If you believe that was “training” you're exceptionally gullible.
